Two common water meter connection methods

The two commonly used connection methods for water meters are as follows:

1. Threaded connection

Applicable scenarios: Suitable for water meters with smaller nominal diameters, generally 50mm and below.

Connection method: By processing threads at the water inlet and outlet of the water meter, threaded connections are made with threaded fittings on the pipe. When connecting, it is necessary to wrap sealing materials such as raw tape around the threads to ensure the sealing of the connection.

Advantages: Easy installation, low cost, suitable for small-diameter pipes and occasions where sealing requirements are not particularly high.

Disadvantages: The connection strength is relatively low, and it may become loose after long-term use, leading to problems such as water leakage. In addition, the thread processing accuracy requirements are high. If the thread processing is poor, it will affect the sealing and reliability of the connection.

2. Flange connection

Applicable scenarios: Commonly used for water meters with a nominal diameter of 50mm and above, and occasions that require frequent disassembly and maintenance.

Connection method: Install flanges at the water inlet and outlet of the water meter, and then tighten the flanges to the flanges on the pipes with bolts. When connecting, a sealing gasket needs to be placed between the flanges to ensure sealing.

Advantages: high connection strength, good sealing, easy to disassemble and repair, suitable for large-diameter pipes and occasions with high sealing requirements.

Disadvantages: high installation cost, requiring more bolts, flanges and other accessories, and the installation process is relatively complicated, requiring certain skills and experience.
