Moise, a client from Rwanda, visited our company to discuss a partnership on smart meters
Recently, Moise, a client of Rwanda Power Solutions, visited our company for in-depth discussions regarding the smart retrofit of traditional local electricity meters, remote meter reading, and integration with the electricity sales system.
The client is a local professional electricity service provider in Rwanda that independently operates its own electricity sales system and customer app, primarily handling local secondary electricity sales. Currently, the conventional electricity meters in use on the Rwandan power grid lack remote communication capabilities, making remote meter reading and account recharging impossible, which results in low operational efficiency.The existing meters in the area support the DLMS protocol; however, the relevant encryption keys and OBIS parameters have not yet been made publicly available. The client will apply to the local power company for authorization documents.
In light of the current market situation, our company is providing the client with two practical solutions:
First, a retrofit solution for existing meters: By installing CIU data acquisition terminals compatible with local meters, this solution enables remote meter reading and data management at a low cost;
Second, a replacement solution with brand-new smart meters: By adopting our company’s remote smart meters, the system can directly integrate with the client’s electricity sales system, token-based top-up system, and HES backend, enabling fully intelligent digital management.
During these discussions, our company provided comprehensive documentation on meter products, the top-up system, the HES backend, and the overall solution, which was highly recognized by the client. Moving forward, the client will present the proposal to the Rwanda Electricity Company for approval to advance the project’s implementation.
These partnership discussions have further expanded our company’s presence in the African market. We will continue to provide high-quality smart meters and integrated power solutions to support the intelligent upgrading of overseas power grids.
