Measurement around us--"Three Civil Meters"
1. What are the "three civil meters"
Civilian water meters, electric energy meters and gas meters (hereinafter referred to as "civilian three meters") used for trade settlement directly with water, electricity and gas supply departments are compulsory inspection measuring instruments. As an indispensable measuring tool in residents' homes, they involve thousands of households, with large quantities and wide coverage. Accurate measurement is closely related to the interests of the masses. Today, let's take a look at some basic knowledge about the measurement of the "three meters" for civil use.
1.1 Water meter
Water meters mostly refer to drinking cold water meters, which are instruments used to continuously measure, record and display the volume of water flowing through the measuring sensor. They are mainly used to measure the total volume of drinking cold water in the water pipe. They can be divided into civil water meters and industrial water meters according to their uses; they can be divided into cold water meters and hot water meters according to their working temperature; among them, cold water meters can be divided into two temperature grades, T30 and T50, according to their working temperature.

1.2 Electric meter
The energy meter, commonly known as the electric meter, is an instrument used to measure electrical energy. The correct reading of the energy meter: read from left to right in sequence, the unit of measurement is kilowatt-hour (kWh), if there are two colors of black and red, the black digit on the left is the integer digit, and the red digit on the right is the decimal digit. Commonly used energy meters are mainly divided into two categories: electromechanical AC energy meters and electronic AC energy meters. Smart energy meters not only use the technology of electronic integrated circuits, but also have high-tech functions such as high calculation accuracy, intelligent deduction, power memory, balance alarm, and remote information transmission. It has great advantages in both performance and operation functions.
It can be divided into the following according to the indication:
☑ Pulse indicator light: red, off when the home is not in use, flashing display when electricity is used, the greater the power consumption, the faster the flashing frequency.
☑ Trip indicator light: yellow, usually off, and the light is on when the load switch is disconnected.

1.3 Gas meter
Gas meter is a measuring instrument used to measure the volume of gas flowing through a closed pipeline.
Gas media include natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, and artificial gas. Gas meters can be divided into diaphragm gas meters, ultrasonic gas meters, and others according to their working principles. Diaphragm gas meters are usually divided into two parts: a base meter and an additional device (liquid crystal display). The mechanical counter of the base meter displays the accumulated gas consumption of the gas meter, and the prepaid management part is an additional auxiliary device of the gas meter.

Lifetime of three civil meters
1.Use period of water meter: According to relevant regulations, water meters with a nominal diameter of DN50 or less and a normal flow rate of no more than 16m³/h are only subject to the first mandatory inspection, and are used within a limited period and rotated upon expiration (the use period of water meters with a nominal diameter not exceeding DN25 shall not exceed 6 years; the use period of water meters with a nominal diameter exceeding DN25 but not exceeding DN50 shall not exceed 4 years).
2.Use period of electric meter: According to relevant regulations, electric meters are only subject to mandatory verification for the first time. Civilian electric energy meters are limited in use, rotated when due, or extended according to the status of the meter (the verification cycle of Class 1 and Class 2 active electronic AC electric energy meters is generally not more than 8 years; the rotation cycle of single-phase active electric energy meters with magnetic bearings and double jewel bearings is generally not more than 15 years, and the rotation cycle of other single-phase active electric energy meters is not more than 10 years).
3.Use period of gas meter: For gas meters with maximum flow qmax≤10m³/h and used for trade settlement, only the first mandatory inspection is carried out, and they are used within a limited period and replaced upon expiration. (The use period of gas meters using natural gas as the medium is generally not more than 10 years. The use period of gas meters using artificial gas, liquefied petroleum gas, etc. as the medium is generally not more than 6 years).
