How to Choose the Suitable Gas Meter

1. Determine the Gas Meter Model

Common household gas meter models are G1.6, G2.5, and G4, each corresponding to different flow ranges:

G1.6: Flow range 0.016-2.5 m³/h, suitable for a single gas stove or water heater, ideal for small households with low gas consumption.

G2.5: Flow range 0.025-4 m³/h, can meet the needs of a gas stove and water heater operating simultaneously, suitable for typical household daily gas usage.

G4: Flow range 0.04-6 m³/h, suitable for households with high-power gas appliances such as gas boilers and ovens, or for larger households with higher gas consumption.

Recommendation: Choose the model based on the maximum gas consumption of all gas appliances operating simultaneously. Generally, the flow rate should be within 20%-70% of the gas meter's maximum rated flow rate to ensure metering accuracy and smooth gas supply.

2. Matching Gas Type

Different gases (such as natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, and manufactured gas) have different calorific values, requiring the selection of a suitable gas meter. For example, natural gas has a higher calorific value and relatively lower consumption, so a smaller gas meter can be selected; liquefied petroleum gas has a lower calorific value and may require a gas meter with a higher flow rate.

3. Considering Functional Requirements

Smart Gas Meters: Such as IC card meters and IoT meters, these feature prepaid, remote meter reading, and fault alarms, offering greater convenience and suitability for households seeking intelligent management.

Mechanical Diaphragm Gas Meters: Reliable metering and relatively inexpensive, but require manual meter reading, making them suitable for users with lower demands for intelligent features and stable gas consumption.

4. Pay attention to installation and environmental requirements

Gas meters should be installed in a well-ventilated, dry environment free of corrosive gases, avoiding direct sunlight and humidity.

The installation location should facilitate reading and maintenance, and maintain a safe distance from gas appliances, power sources, etc.

In summary, the gas meter model should be determined based on factors such as household gas appliances, number of people, and type of gas. Smart gas meters are preferred for improved convenience, while also paying attention to product quality and installation standards. If you have any questions, please consult your local gas company or a professional.
