When installing a water meter, you need to pay attention to the following aspects to ensure that the water meter can measure accurately and operate stably for a long time:
1.Water meter selection and adaptation
(1)Specification adaptation: Select a water meter of corresponding specifications based on parameters such as water flow rate and pipe diameter to ensure that its flow rate is lower than the maximum flow rate to prevent water meter overload or inaccurate measurement.
(2)Type selection: Select the appropriate water meter type, such as wet water meter, dry water meter, etc., according to the installation environment and usage requirements. Wet water meters must be installed horizontally, dry water meters should be installed vertically, and the dial must not be tilted upward.
2.Installation location and environment
(1)Location selection: The water meter should be installed in a location that is convenient for meter reading and maintenance, while avoiding harsh environments such as high temperature, exposure to the sun and freezing. In cold areas, insulation measures should be taken to prevent the water meter from freezing and cracking.
(2)Protection measures: Water meters installed outdoors should be equipped with a protective box to prevent damage caused by wind, sun and rain. At the same time, anti-theft issues should be considered, especially for copper shell water meters
3.Installation details and requirements
(1)Clean up debris: Before installing the water meter, you must clean up the debris in the pipe, such as stones, sand, welding slag, etc., to avoid damaging the meter core or blocking the filter.
(2)Arrow direction: The direction of the arrow on the water meter housing should be consistent with the direction of water flow to ensure that the water meter can measure correctly.
(3)Straight pipe section requirements: A straight pipe section of appropriate length (greater than or equal to 10 times the pipe diameter) should be designed in front of the water meter to ensure accurate measurement. At the same time, a certain straight pipe section length should also be maintained after the water meter.
(4)Check valve installation: A check valve (one-way valve) should be installed at a suitable position downstream of the water meter outlet to prevent water from flowing back and damaging the meter core.
(5)Installation height and distance: The water meter should be installed at a moderate height to facilitate meter reading and maintenance. At the same time, the distance between the water meter housing and the wall should not be too large to ensure a stable installation.
4.Connection and sealing
(1)Connection method: Select the appropriate connection method according to the pipe diameter and water meter type, such as flange connection or threaded connection.
(2)Sealing requirements: When the water meter is connected to the pipe, a sealing gasket or connecting nut should be used to ensure sealing and prevent water leakage.
5.Subsequent maintenance and repair
(1)Regular inspection and maintenance: Carry out regular inspection and maintenance according to the water meter calibration cycle (usually 2 years/time) to ensure the normal operation of the water meter.
(2)Close the valve in time: For water meters that have not been used for a long time or have not been delivered for use after installation, the front and rear valves should be closed in time to prevent damage.
(3)Set up inspection valves: Set up inspection valves before and after the water meter and on the bypass pipe to facilitate quick inspection of abnormal phenomena.
